Okay guys, I got an MSI nForce2 board a few weeks back, and was ready to jump on some Crucial PC2700, when I started seeing all the problems people have been having with a ton of different RAM sticks in nForce2 boards. Here's what my needs are, I hope someone can help me out:

I want PC2700 or PC3200 RAM, I have no desire to clock it higher than DDR400, and would be fine with DDR333, and do not care if it is CAS 2.0 or 2.5.

I want 2 512MB sticks, so I can run 1GB in dual-channel (I intend on playing PlanetSide and DOOM III).

I would like to spend no more than $75/stick, but would prefer to keep it cheaper than that (I am planning my wedding and on limited funds).

Do I have any options with this? Finding RAM for this board is becoming a real pain-in-the-ass. Please help me out people! Thanks for any input you guys have!

hello
i just purched samsung pc400 256mb stick and elixir pc333 was told by man. that it will run ok in msi k7n2g-ilsr in slots 2 and 3 at pc333. got mine off ebay from palmpc. This was confirmed on one of these forums. so try samsung (true samsung). As the elixir seems to cost more.

I'm running two sticks of 256MB Kingston Hyper-X (512MB total) on my epox 8RDA+ as well, great stuff!

there are postings of people having issues with kingston hyper-x with the msi board. Maybe you got a stick with the good ram chips on it.

nick1985, which Mushkin ram did you buy? And dougmartin, where did you see people were having problems with the Hyper-X on MSI boards? I saw on the MSI forums that people had problems with the Kingston Value RAM for sure, and supposedly a new BIOS fixed that. Would that have fixed the Hyper-X problems, too?

Heh, everyone is tossing out a different mfg ;)

FWIW I use Geil PC3500 Ultra Platinum in my rig, and it runs flawless.
