HELP!!! I need RAID working soon!

i recently bought a new mobo (ASUS A7V8X), and i'm trying to get the RAID to work. the array that i'm trying to use was made on my old mobo, but it had the same RAID controller, so i don' think that's the problem. the mobo won't find both of my HD's when i go into the fastbuild utility, it will find each of them but themselves if i swap out the cables, but not both. help!!

i also know that it's not a problem with the cables, i've tried swaping them with other ones.

This is exactly why integrated RAID makes me look like this ---> :Q

So, you have two SATA IDE drives, or else two PATA IDE drives plus two SATA adapters, is that correct? The A7N8X-Deluxe only runs RAID on its SATA headers, not its regular ATA headers.

there is a connector on the board that is parallel ATA, and it's called PRI_RAID1, and in the manual it says you can use any combination of 2 or 3 SATA and p-ATA connectors. i'm friggin lost.😕

Oh, gotcha. I forgot about the sideways parallel-IDE port. The RAID controller connects to that parallel-IDE port and also the two Serial ATA headers. If you want RAID0, then as far as I know, you need each of the two drives on a separate cable. That means you would need to plug one of the drives into an SATA header, which requires a SATA-to-PATA adapter thingie. You can get them for about $25 from newegg or other online vendors: link

If I were you, I'd put the drives back on the previous motherboard and back up your data before proceeding with the new motherboard. Just seems like a good idea 🙂 Good luck!

grrrr.....that sucks. well, thanks for the help, i'll order that thing tonight and see if i can get this thing working by next week.
