Help, I need a windows 98 file.

I need win.cnf file. I am working on a friend computer the is missing win.com file. I have to rebuild it.
The file is in Win98_28.cab of the original Windows 98 CD-ROM or Win98_25.cab of the Windows 98SE CD-ROM.

are you without a Win98 CD..? if you have a Win98 CD use System File Checker to replace/repair ..AnalogX' BanishCD works very well onWin98 systems that have the space to stash the CAB files on.. <edit> link

I have the CD but I only have Windows XP and I can't boot into the 98 system. I try and browse the CD and I still can't find the files?

Don't look for win.com look for the cab file(s) you mentioned.

why when extracted under WinXP it appears a win(24.2kb) but SpeedDial ..

Where do I get win.ch

Ok now lets read what it says:
rename win.com to win.ch (back it up)
then
rename (the NEW) win.cnf to win.com.
