What is it called when police illegally "plant" evidence on a suspect just so that they can catch him in the act?

I.E. A policeman puts a kiddie-pr0n magazine on the sidewalk, hides around the corner, and then hopes that somebody will pick it up and look at it so that he could arrest that person?

HELP!

I think it's called 'illegally planting evidence'. I don't know of any one word that would describe that other than to frame someone. Sorry I can't be of any help.

The definition for framed:

a: to devise falsely (as a criminal charge)
b : to contrive the evidence against (an innocent person) so that a verdict of guilty is assured

That sounds like entrapment.

That's exactly what it is. Entrapment is where for example, the police ask you to steal something for them, and when you return with the stolen item (say a car) they arrest you. You are legally protected against it because you can argue that you never would have done it in the first place if they hadn't asked you to.
