I have a Mac G4 and it does not have a modem. I can't add a PSI modem because all my slots are full. I have a friend that has a G3 and had a external U.S. Robotics Sportster modem hooked up. He got a cable modem and gave me his old one. :D That is the good part!!

Now the problem, the modem has a din style plug on the end of the cord that pluged into his G3. My G4 does not have a jack like this. The only connections my Mac has is two USB ports and two FireWire ports and one other connector that I am not sure what is (it looks like a phone connector only much bigger). Does anyone know if there is an adaptor for this cord, or different cord that I can purchase to make this modem hook up to a USB port on my Mac??? I searched on U.S. Robotics web site, but could not find anything.

This is a new thing for me, this is my first mac and I don't know anything about them. Can anyone help a Mac newbee????? :) :) Thanks!!!

Howdy,

You may want to take a look at this product from Griffin Technology. It plugs into the modem slot (not PCI) on the G4 motherboard. There are different models for different Macs so be sure to get the right one. You might want to email them about compatibility with your modem. I did notice that they had OS X drivers for it as well.

I have not used this product myself, you may want to search the web for reviews.
