help i messed up something grr.

I want to overclock my pc more its @ 11x 150fsb if i was to put it @ 11x 150 would that get me a faster cpu or what. I don't know what the 12x or 11x or like 13.5 is at all. I know is that my mobo has thoses options.

to change that clock speed of your chip there are two numbers you may be able to alter. One is the Front Side Bus, the number between 100 and 200, in your case, 150. The other is the multiplier, a number usually greater than 10 and less than 20 usually. Simply put, the speed of your chip is the FSB times the multiplier. The higher the multiplier the faster the chip, but a high FSB can make more than just your computer run faster. Generally, you want the FSB as high as it can go stabily, and after that, raise the Multiplier as far as it can go stably.

Try to keep the clock speed of your ram and fsb the same, on AMD systems it runs ALOT faster that way.

What ^ he said. But many older motherboards can not support a very high FSB, as it changes the speed that the PCI and AGP buses are running at. So you may be better able to raise the multiplier to get to a faster Mhz with the FSB at 133 than at 150. Obviously, YMMV, so you'll have to try both and see what works better on your system.

I <3 you!! So keep my stuff @ 150fsb and just up the multiper right.

 

considering its running stably now thats a good idea, because as psada said high FSB's can mess up much more than the chip
as he said there are people that keep their FSB's low an raise the multiplier very high, which I have seen lead to faster computing.

but the flip side is, a higher fsb in condunction with faster ram speed can give you a much greater performance boost.

Generally start with a low multilier and raise the fsb until the computer is no longer stable (run 3d mark or some other highly demanding software) if you lower the fsb😛ci ratio you may be able to clock it even higher
then lower it by a few mhz (I cannot say for sure but I have heard than keeping it alittle below the maximum greatly increases lifespan)
then raise the multiplier until the same thing happens. (the only complication is that a jump of .5 may run you 75mhz faster so keep an eye on the temperature reading)

but remember with amd processors try your best to keep ram and fsb clocks synchrounous. Remember reading all those articles saying how bad ddr400 was? that was because the chips they were using had an FSB of 333 which is clearly not realated to 400, if they had overclocked to a fsb of 200, ddr400 would have shown its worth.

no its higher than 2200+ speeds if there was a 2300+ it would be that i guess

The cheap stuff from bzboyz. The kind that comes in the lil white bag. I will be using whatever comes w/ the new heatsink oh ya wut kind of hsf do i have now? If new is copper what is this sliver........ cheap one metal?

well your new HS is copper and should help lower your tempuratures, but not by much tho, a recommendation would be getting some Artic Silver 3 or even Artic Alumina, as those thermal interface materials will help alot in transfering heat away from your die. as for the HS you currently have, it's probably aluminum. it's does it's job well in cooling your CPU at stock speeds, but when overclocking, go with copper.

Ya true i guess i have to buy some ac3 sometime l8r. Oh ya i just ran 3dmarks no crash or freeze and cpu went high @ 49c, but i play quake3 alot so it goign to be @ 53 prob intill new hsf.

I had my stuff all up to like 2300+ speeds and i booted up and it says INVAILD PARITION wth so i used xp restore adn fixed. So im back in windows and i rebooted same problem so now im underclocked to like 1800+ speeds and back in windows at 11x mutil i was on 12.5 why is this damn it. Should i up it back to 2300+ speeds and format windows so that it installs w/ the overclock speeds and the table dont get courpt or error'd?

Ah, Winblows is an unstable pile of poor coding, especially when it comes to overclocking. I've actually killed my windows installation trying to run at too high a speed.

I thought the thred was dead from al lthe above posting and sucess so i made a new one in other forum :/ Well anyway i mean i was in windows playing games/ big files and it didnt crash but it cant reboot lol.
