After 6 years of home computing, I have my first virus and I knew I had it the minute I clicked the *.vbs file. Man, what an idiot I am. I was using morpheus to look up some old Beatles stuff and downloaded a vbs file named, coincidentally, "It won't be long", and after it came in really fast, I freaking ran it and knew the minute I did, I was F*cked.

All my music and pics were copied (I think) to 12KB renamed vbs files. I believe the original files are still there because my player's database still plays them. However, explorer and even search will not find any mp3's. I deleted all 3600 vbs files and installed Mcafee and did a scan.

PLEASE - sombody tell me what to do here! I have over 4000 tunes and 1500 family pictures here. Any help GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks. I got rid of the virus with Mcafee, which basically just deleted all the vbs files this visual basic script/worm created out of most of all my multimedia files. The bad news is I lost about a year's worth of pictures because I stupidly have not backed them up. The good news is that the mp3's were still there but hidden.

This sucks, but thanks for your help.
