I just bought a zoom 56k V.92 to replace my old modem. i uninstalled my old modem, but i'm ahving issues getting my computer to recognize the new one. It detects the card but as the drivers are being installed i get "data is invalid" any ideas? Should I try using V.90 drivers? Any suggestions appreciated

Thanks

It sounds like a driver problem to me. Try completely uninstalling everything that's left of the previous modem and installing the latest drivers for your new modem.

I have a Zoom V92 external modem. Not sure if that's the one you have.

The directions for install ask you to install the drivers FIRST,........BEFORE you install the modem . Shut your computer down, put the modem in, Then start Windows again, and go from there.

If you did not do it in that order, that could be why you are having trouble. Most modems I've owned have you install the modem first, THEN the drivers. This was a bit different, and it could be what happened to you.

( I just bought it and installed it a few hours ago, which is why it's still pretty fresh in my mind)

thanks for the tips.....yes i followed directions and installed the drivers first. I'll try downloading the drivers form zoom...Thanks for reconfirming my idea that it wasa driver issue
