I bought a Plextor drive for a friend and it is picky as heck about the media.

Is this drive bad. Do I need to RMA it?

Does anyone else have this problem with their plextor drive?

BTW I can use every one of the kinds of media in my Lite-on 24/10/40 that he gets errors on. That is why I think this drive is bad.

.......................edit...........................
It is really picky about CD-RW media.

try updating the firmware. I have not had a plextor that was picky about media yet. So it might be a faulty drive or dirty at least.

Thats why I asked, I haven't seen anyone complaining so I think I will try RMA'ing it. It is about a month old and just really started using it a couple weeks ago and its been a pain in my butt since.

Yes definitely RMA it. Plextor is known to have drives that write good data onto ANY media. That's why i bought my plextor!
