If you want to connect both of your computers to the same DSL connection, you will need a router and your external dsl modem. I use a Linksys BEFSR41 router via Hot Deal (thanks again) and it is great. I have paid about $100 total for the ethernet card and Linksys router combo. Your bandwidth will however be divided amongst the two computers.

Huh? You mean that your PC connects to the DSL modem via a crossover cable? That's pretty unusual. Should work with a router anyway - just connect the router and the modem with crossover, and connect PC's to the router with Cat 5. All crossover cable is is regular Cat 5 with some wires switched around in the connector. So if the modem is wired to take crossover, then the first link in the network (modem to router) will have to use it.
