so i went to the beach, took some pictures ... but i got sand underneath the "take picture" button of the camera. what do you call it? the button you push to take the picture? haha. yeah that one. anyhow it got stuck a few times and i couldnt take pictures. i could hear it grinding underneath whenever i tried to take a picture. when i shake the camera slightly now i can hear little particles underneath. would it be safe to open the camera or is that a bad idea? can i or should i try to pop off the button? man i feel like a complete moron. :)

Not sure anyone knows the real answer, but my advice would be to not take apart the camera. First find out what it will cost to have it repaired either by Canon, the place u bought it, a local camera store, or a reputable online repair center. If that cost gets to high I would next consider continuing to use it. I think you'll have better luck risking that, than to try repairing it yourself. Finally if it does stop functioning see what you can do.

Cry?

I got the same camera and I am looking at it now. Looks like u can unscrew the side screws and life the plate off and clean out the button. Just don't pull hard as I am sure there isn't much slack in the LCD connetions and what not.
