HELP! I get pop-up advertises through messenger service! How to stop?

Once I got verizon online dsl, I now get pop-up advertises from the messenger service! How do I stop these? Are there any other cautions that I am supposed to take with a connection that is always on the internet????

thnx........hey also another thing, when i start up windows, something called evntsource is talking up 99% cpu until i do CTR+ALT+DEL and crash it under services in Windows XP..........can someone helP?

Sounds like spyware. Reformat your harddrive and reinstall Windows.

download ad-aware from www.download.com

it should detect it and delete it.
