It tell's me to un-install the old drivers, and when I do and reboot, XP automatically reinstalls the OLD drivers.
If I install without removing theold drivers windows "BOOTS" to a blank screen!
I tryed un-installing, rebooting, and re starting in safe mode, but XP still re installs the OLD drivers!

ANY HELP???

Which radeon card do you have ??
I have the 8500. I simply ran the installer from the updated downloaded driver. The new driver installer uninstalled the old drivers & re-installed the new ones. I have not had a problem.
I do know that some motherboard bios do not like the ati video cards. I had to update my Asus A7A 266 bios before installing the ati video card.
I had the same problem you are experiencing (blank screen). The difference between your problem & mine seems to be that your dislplay worked out of the box with no updated drivers, whereas mine did not.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Just for the hell of it, I would check the net to see if your motherboard has updated bios to fix any ati video incompatibilities.

Well I'm doing a TRI boot with ME (don't ask why) 2000 Pro and XP, it works fine on ME and 2000. And updating the drivers with those OS's hasn't been a problem, just XP. I have tried doing the driver updates through Windows update, but it fails to install. I did just do the new VIA AGP drivers so that MAY help (don't know yet)

I'm running a ABIT VP-6 mother board..........
And a Radeon 32 DDR

Well I updated my VIA AGP drivers and reinstalled the ATI drivers.
Got a blank screen after the WIN XP start screen (again)
Then I went into the BIO's and dissabled APG 4X, rebooted and NOW it's working.

Weird!!

Also when I try updating the drivers in Windows update, they download but will NOT install.

Anyone know whats UP with this??
