Help!:disgust: I can't detect the hardrive in my IBM thinkpad 240. It was working fine untill I loaded some programs and then set it up so it could go into hybernation mode. I had a little trouble with hybernation mode because I couldnt get an apply button when I set the hybernation paramters. The ibm website had a hybernation fix that I downloaded. It also said that some models could not use hybernation.
Eventually my friend was able to get the thinkpad 240 to go into hybernation. The next day he was able to wake it out of hybernation. He took the laptop to my house and booted it up when all it did was show a cursor in the upper left corner.
When this happened, I used scanreg to fix the registry and thre hard drive failed.
We bought another 4.6 gig drive becuase the orginal one(6.49 gig) was rattling...but the new one (4.6 gig) rattles as well. Then I got a (10 gig) drive, which also rattles but that one wouldn't accept the bios password???
When I try to boot with the other new 4.8 gig drive with a boot_floppy, I get operating system not found????
What is going on????
Is hybernation the problem? If so , How do I fix it?
If its not hybernation, but a failed hard drive because when I tried to do the scanreg it failed! Then What should I do because all I get is operating system not found or replace disk and press any key.
Could my floppy drive(external) be bad?
I could really use an IBM experts help but I don't feel like paying them 35 hour for a phone call. :|:Q:p:cool:
