HELP!! I can't change resolution in XP! Is it my hardware??

I had a winxp failure from a bad file.. had to do a repair from the CD. Once that was done, rebooted.. and ALL I get is 4bit video!! I have a NVidia Gefoce2 GTS and a Samsung 900NF - any ideas?? WHen I go to properties and try changing it in the settings tab, only item I get is LOWEST (4BIT) .. i tried installing drivers again, but doesn't work.. XPrecognizes the video card and monitor tho.. help!!

did you try the Detonator XP drivers? It does sound like a video card driver issue though.....or....your not in safe mode are you?

it's probably something to do with the damned system file protection (let my virus program do the work please!).....

Anyone know a permanent way to remove it or work around? Running NTFS it's not so simple to just boot to DOS and delete things.

I had a similar problem updating ATI to new ATI drivers, it would run fine but the old drivers would be the ones still installed.
