Hello, once agian

A new motherboard was put in my computer and now windows xp wont boot. So im trying to reinstall windows however when i put the cd in it wont go to the windows xp setup it just gives me the options for safe mode, or safe mode with command promp etc. And when i go to the pulldown list of OS's it only lists winxp and not the CD.

Also i downloaded the WinXP_EN_PRO_BF from microsoft site to boot from the 6 disks and when i put the first disk in the system just keeps going it doesnt say that there is a disk in the drive.

Help what do i do??

Sounds like you need to change the boot sequence in your bios.

Are you able to get into the bios for your system?

dahunan's exactly right -- if all you want to do is reinstall, you've got it easy. Look for something that pops up right when the computer first turns on that tells you how to get into the BIOS - also could be called setup, system setup, or anything along those lines. Usually you have to press F1, F2 or DEL. This will be BEFORE Windows starts to load (and brings you to the safe mode screen).

Once in the BIOS utility, change the boot order so the computer tries to boot off of the CD drive first. THen you can reinstall Windows off of the CD.

Oh jeez thanks guys i totally overlooked that, im trying to do this, while sick out of my mind. Ive had a sever sinus infection 102 fever for 3 days, and now im on steroids, 1600mg of anti biotics, 1000mg decongestants, and nasal spry. Least to say my brain isnt functioning correctly!

Thanks once again!
