I just rebuilt my HD with Win2K. Installed IE 6. DSL with router and ZoneAlarm Pro. Problem: I can go to the welcome page of PayPal but I can't go to any of the secure pages "https". I thought maybe it's a cookie thing, so I turned off ZA and set IE to accept all cookies. Still no dice. Any help would be appreciated. It was working fine before I changed the HD.

Are you signing in with your user name and password? And are those being accepted? PayPal doesn't use anything fancy but you do need to have 128-bit or higher encryptiion installed into your browser for SSL (secure sockets layer) to work. You can get the encryption update at the M$ web site. I think the current versions of Mozilla, Netscape and Opera are 128-bit or better as standard.

I installed the latest version of IE6 SP1. The About IE menu says it's 6.0.2800.1156. Cipher Strength: 56 bit.

Sounds like you need SP1 for IE6 (Cipher strength: 128 bits). If you already do have SP1, it will say Update Versions:; SP1..... You might need a Win2000 service pack, in that case.

Also check your system time & date, including the year.

That was it. I installed W2K SP2 which included the 128 bit encryption upgrade and now I'm home free. Thanks all.
