Help! I broke it!

I wanted a new desktop, so I tried downloading Litestep, and installed it and it worked. But, I didnt like it, so I wanted to uninstall it. I ran the uninstall program, it uninstalled and told me it was ok to reboot and remove the folder, but when i reboot, i get my desktop and nothing else! help me!

i think explorer.exe is there, but when i run it, it justs opens up the actual windows explorer, and doesnt give me back my desktop!

Do you just see the background and no icons? It may be a problem with your explorer.exe. But first look elsewhere, it may not be that serious.

Go do ctrl-alt-del.. run regedit... find every instance of litestep.. if it says "shell" then change it to explorer.exe .. I made the same mistake..


litestep... never again

i just see the background. no icons, start button on my keyboard doesnt work, no shortcuts work, nothing. heck i dont even remember how i got internet explorer open.

if you have win2k/xp

hit control alt delete. I think you do new task. just type c:\

this should bring up a folder, and if your lucky everything else. let me know

I did that both times i tried litestep. I had to boot to DOS with a 95 boot disk(i ran ME at the time) and edit an ini file to get explorer running again. The funny part is that i was talking to a friend who told me how fix it on aim since it started automatically
