Hi

I have started to get quite a few errors (sometimes over 200) when I check received activity, there are no errors with send. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the error?

Although I have virus scanned my computer (Norton 2008 reported my pc virus free) could the errors have anything to do with a virus or trojan etc?

Thanks for any help you can offer. :)

I've only seen these kinds of errors when I am working with a wireless connection, and even then, the errors occurred on both directions. I'd speculate that there might be some kind of fault on your receiving end, or your provider's sending end. How is your connection hooked up to your computer?

Whatever it is, I really doubt it's any kind of virus or trojan.

At 0%, I wouldn't worry about it unless it increases. What kind of connection is it at 1.1Mb?

It's a very slow 1mb rural broadband connection :(

It depends on what it is, wireless, DSL, cable, carrier pigeon or what?

It could be cables/weather/interference/ or something else.

This is probably nothing.

However I have the feeling that you are connected directly to the Modem.

You should get a Router even if you have a single computer.

The Router would provide better protection better authentication. ore stable connection and would block Internet junk knocking on the door.

Thanks for all the help and advice, I don't really know much about broadband because dialup is more my thing lol ;)

I contacted my broadband provider and they sent me a new router which has fixed the problem. :)
