HELP! HP9900ci can't read and rewrite CD-RW disc it made

Just bought HP9900ci 12/10/32/8 CDRW-DVD combo. Have used it to burn several music CD, data CD on CD-R discs at the highest speed without any problem. By using Nero5.5, multisession writing and 'deleting' both work fine with CD-R disc.
However, my HP9900ci has complicated problem when I use CD-RW disc. The boxed poor DirectCD v3.01 couldn't format CD-RW correctly. It either stops with a error message or couldn't be recognized after 'formating'. Although I can write data onto CD-RW disc, which can be read by my Acer 40x CD-ROM, the burned CD-RW can't be read again by burner itself, certainly can't be rewrote either.
I tried hp high speed CD-RW disc included in the package and 3 verbatim datalifeplus 2x/4x CD-RWs, no one is successful. In fact, just after I used nero 5.5 to write data onto CD-RW disc, verification step shows "fail to verify".
My computer spec:
AMD-K6II 450
VIA MVP3 AGP mainboard
Maxtor 20G UDMA66 at primary master IDE
Acer 40x CD-ROM at secondary slave IDE
HP9900ci CD-RW at secondary master IDE
DMA is enabled for both CD-ROM and CD-RW

Is it something wrong with my settings or I need try other brand CD-RW discs?

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Since nero said EZ CD/DirectCD might conflict with nero, I uninstalled DirectCD 3.01, no improvement. Haven't tried install/uninstall latest version EZ CD/DirectCD 5. I will try soon.
Thanks!

Could be a case of poor media. I've got a spindle of "Cendyne" (50pk) laying around and they're terrible. At least half are coasters. If you continue to experience trouble, try a more reliable brand of media. For CD-RW, I love the Ricoh 10x discs, but they're expensive (about $3-$4 each).
