Help: HP Pocket PC memory erased

I have an HP Jornada Pocket PC. I haven't used it in about 6-12 months. When I plugged it in and turned it on, I had to go through the initial set up screen. After I was done with that, I looked around and all of my stuff is gone. The calendar notes, contacts, programs, etc. It says the date is 01/01/01. Is there any way to get the stuff back? Or chalk it up to a loss and move on?
