Power up and get nothing when on dead battery only. Plug in AC Adapter that seems to be the right one (fits plug as expected, etc but can't verify it is the one that came with the machines). Push Power button and the screen stays black (no bios seen), but... fans whir like it's starting and the power leds illuminate, etc... then the machine shuts down about 5 seconds after pressing the power button. 2 identical machines like this and AFAIK were totally functional before being moth-balled about 4 years back.
Any ideas on how to fix? Could this just be a battery issue - power circuit can have a dead but not dead and defective battery maybe...?
