HELP: How to use D-Link DI-614+ as a switch?

I have a D-Link DI-614+, I want to use it as a switch so I can transfer files between mine and my friend's computer. But I just tried it couple hours ago and didin't work. I am a new to this switch thing, can someone help me out please?

Thank you.

All you need to do is plug the cables into the switch ports on the router. Ignore the WAN port. Both machines will need to either have IP addresses manually set, or you'll need to make sure the DHCP server is configured in the router. You might be able to disable the WAN port as well in the config. By default, the DHCP server IS turned on, since that's how you do the configuration when you buy it, via a web interface or software provided, and you'd need to be able to reach the router.
