Help! How to remove rear tail light assembly on 05? Ford Focus hatchback.

One of my brake lights is out. There is only one screw on the tail light assembly which can be seen when the hatch is opened. I?ve unscrewed it and pulled on the large tail light cover firmly, but is won?t even budge. Should I pull strait back or away from the car? Or, is there something else that needs to be unscrewed?

call the dealership or search for a Ford Focus forum. I'm sure there is plenty of information available online. good luck!

Phil, I bought it used and no manual was included.

The manuals are available on Ford's website.
On my 2003 Focus, there's two thumbscrews to undo. I don't know if it changed for the newer models.

[Edit] You really should get a manual for it. Tyre pressures, oil quantities, bulb locations... all stuff that you need to have to hand.

Phil are the thumbscrews on the inside, on the hatch pillar? Does yours also have just one screw attaching lens cover to the frame next to the hatch?

Okay, there's two on mine; just checked.
One's on the outside of the car. You'd need to open the hatch to see it, and it's holding the outside light cover to the bodywork. The other one is inside the trunk, and it's a black plastic thumbscrew. You'll probably need to stick your hand behind the light assembly to find it.
Once those are removed, the manual says you pull the cover straight off. The outside screw is a Torx head, by the way.

Found the thumbscrew! I was looking too high up, it's actually under where the hatch cover sits. Thanks Phil!
