hello,

i have a creativ labs geforce card with a noisy cooler on it.
the heatsink is glued on the geforce chip.
my question is, how to remove the heatsink from the chip without destroying it?

any tips? :)

Whilst it isn't specific to your exact card, there's an excellent article on replacing the heatsink/fan on a Radeon which you can read here. I'm sure pretty much the same techniques would apply for your geforce. Good luck.

Btw - are you putting a blue orb on the Geforce then? :)

Thanks for the link best guide I think I have seen yet. I will be taking my V5 into surgery tonight or tomorrow depending on when the blorbs show up.

I have heard that placing the card in a freezer gets the glue to be a little bit brittle and easier to crack apart? Ohh and I have also heard getting them warm for this is a bad thing. A Gforce went code blue on anouther forum after attempting!

Anyway I'm going to try 2 blorps 4chip HS's and if I get realy nutty I may try to frag tape the old HS/fans to the back of where the new ones are going.;) Anyone carrying Excess luck it would be appritiated if you sent some my way. :D
