Help! How To Display Legacy DOS Graphics @ 4 x 3 On A 19" Wide Screen LCD Monitor?

I got a great deal on a Samsung 19" wide screen LCD, only to find that my old DOS printed circuit prog is stretched to 16 x 10 in full screen mode, instead of displaying the correct aspect 4 x 3 ratio.

Is there a way to force the display to 4 x 3 mode. I'll be glad to see plain black to fill in the sides. If not, it's going back to the store.

TIA.

What video card do you have?

It's an old GeForce DDR similar to a GeForce 2. I need the slower card for compatibility with the old DOS VESA driver, but it works just fiine for my apps.

Good thing I'm not a gamer. 😎

Your video card supports 1440x900?

Yep, and it looks great for most things. My old command line apps only run in full screen mode. What I want is to display them in a normal 4 x 3 format with black side panels.

Does your video card have DVI? If not I think you're stuck.

I have another card that has DVI that may also work with my old apps. I don't know how to use it to get the display to do what I want.

Thanks for the replies, guys. 😎
