Help: How to connect laptop LCD to PC?

I got a sony laptop LCD display and I was wondering how I would go about connecting it to my PC via the S-video out port of my video card. The display itself is actually a Hitachi.

I don't think it's possible! Have you tried calling Sony Tech support? maybe they'll know.

I might not understand what you really want to do. Hook up a 2nd monitor, or use your lappy as a monitor?

I want to rip the LCD out of the laptop, and use it as a secondary display like I would a TV. I'd like to wire the laptop with composite or s-video in support.

You can't do it without some really expensive, proprietary adaptors, and even then you can't do it with all LCDs. The adaptor would cost more than getting a new 15-17" LCD monitor.

If you can find the model number of the actual LCD then you can likely find a wiring our pinout diagram online and make a cable and ps for it.

You can, but you'll need a controller... which costs about $300. You may as well buy an LCD monitor for that kind of price.

I don't know of any specific libraries or collections, but if you have a actual model # or serial # you should be able to google up some information.
