IM SUCH AN IDIOT......

I saw something stuck to my screen making it a bit blury at one area, so i used a kleenex to try to wipe it off, but passed on dampening it..... STUPID ME. Now i have these streaks on my screen which i cant get off with water or anything, i think i may have badly messed up the screen.... I cant rub the streaks off with anything. Is it a goner??...... :(:(:(:(

The montior is an NEC FE700 17", it has a flat screen....

dont know the model off the top of my head, is it a LCD or CRT? if its LCD I reccomend using some daluted dawn diswashing soap, tough on grease but not on the plastic. if its a CRT dawn will work aswell or windex. any mild soap really. with dawn go back over it with a damp papertowl or cloth then finish it with a dry papertowl or cloth, with windex what I do is carfully spray it on, then just wipe it off.

hope that helps :)

also read your owners manual it usually tells you how the manufature reccomends cleaning the screen.

Thanks for the tips...

But i think my monitor may be a goner. See when I turn it off i can see the streaks that are somewhat indented into the surface. Like someone took a nail and ran it down the screen creating a scratch.... Doesnt look good :( I tried windex but thats only to clean the screen, not remove the actual scratches that i seem to have made...

This has not been a good day for me :( :(

I am seriously doughting you did any damage to the screen as its very difficult to dent glass. you may have scratched the surface of the glass, go to an auto glass repair shop and ask them how they repair scratchs in glass perhaps they may have a better idea. or may even beable to do it or tell you whats up if it is any damage to the glass. without a picture I really cant tell you.

Thanks again, I'm planning to bring it down to my local computer store tomorrow to see what they have to say. I know for sure that i didnt actually dent the glass itself, but probably marked/scratched the cloating on the glass.....

At first glance I thought I read, "How do I remove steaks from my monitor screen?" :)

Sorry, carry on...
