I've a IBM Deskstar 20Gig UDMA ATA100 HD which is running at UDMA ATA66 (mode 4). How do I get it to work in mode 5 (ATA100)???? In BIOS, it says mode 5 but in Win2k, it says Ultra DMA mode 4.

Any help would be appreciated! :)

I would not worry too much about running at 66 vs 100 because most ide drives can even burst at over udma33 let alone 66/100. Also are you using an 66/100 ide cable ?!? Cause that makes a difference.

Yep, using ATA 66/100 80pin cable.

As you mentioned, I can't tell any performance difference when Win2k was showing mode 5 in the device mgr (before I started moving around 2HDs, CDROM and burner from primary to secondary.)

Funny thing is, the BIOS shows mode 5....

I would go with what you bios is saying sometimes windows is funny like that. ive seen cases where it mis-reports the amount of ram in a system. But if you cant notice the difference, who cares if it said you were running at udma 33 or slower, just as long as it runs well you are all set :)

if you've not installed SP2 or the microsoft ata 100 patch then ata66 is the highest supported transfer speed in win2k!

Are you guys familiar with winxp? It was showing mode 5 before I started moving HDs/CDROM/CDRWs from primary to secondary...
