Help: HotSync for Visor.

Problem with HotSync between Visor and PC.

I installed the software from the CD that came with the Visor, plugged the cradle into my last open USB port, placed my Visor (fittingly) onto the cradle, started up the HotSync manager and pressed the button on the cradle to start syncing. No successful transfer. While it's attempting to sync, however, an icon pops up in my system tray "Unplug or eject hardware". When I double-click on it, it shows device "Handspring Visor" with a problem. It says the driver isn't installed properly, so I choose to reinstall the driver, but I can't find the driver anywhere, so I choose to update it on the Microsoft Update site. They find a newer driver, but somehow the installation of it fails with a message that the driver couldn't be installed because the function driver that it's installing to isn't installed.

Anybody know what to do to get this operation in the mix?
