Help! Horrible problem with Windows Media Center Edition

When I try to play a video/dvd on the Media Center application, the program acts like its going to do something, and then just closes without warning. I know that I have all the codecs, and I have WinDVD4 Platinum. The MPEG-2 codec is being detected. I would do a system restore, but I've heard of cases where that doesn't fix problems with Media Center. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Thanks in advance!😕
