Well here is the situation.

I have two computers. One a lappy with Win98 and a desktop with WinME. I have, from the wall, the model to the router, to the computers. THe comptuers are assigned sequential IPs, but only one computer gets FAST internet, while the other one is slooooowwwww....What can the problem be?

Bad NIC?

I got TCP/IP and IPX installed on both. Router is configured fine.

Before suspecting the network card, you might want to switch (change) the cat5 cables and see if that makes a difference. Post results if you do.
