Got a winxp and win2k machine hooked to a router... winxp machine is up and running on 192.168.1.100 ... win2k machine wont go up anywhere on the network... the light is on on the network, but not the FULL/COL light... i dunno what that means, are what i've done wrong.. help 😀
 
yes.. ip address takes.. i think i used.... 192.168.1.101 if i remember correctly... i cant check now.. its in my mom's room
 
umm, i had a motorola surfboard 4100 and the ip of the modem itself was 192.168.1.100, maybe that could be part of your problem.
 
how'd u check the modem ip? i think i tried changing the ip of the other machine to a few different things.. i'll check again tho.. the only thing i dont get is why the full/col light dont turn on.. i dunt even know what that means

Not sure what the Full would be (100mbit full duplex?), but the Col is probably collisions, which would be a bad thing.
 
also, if you have a router, does it do DHCP? it may be messing up with your machines, since they have IP's set already
