Help heatsink attachment for my 1st computer.

Hi, I am new to building computers, this is my first one. I put my a64 939 in my vnf4ultra and am trying to decide about the heatsink. My retail amd processor didn't come with thermal paste (are they supposed to?). I think they need paste, right? My mobo came with silicone heat sink paste, could I use that?

yea man, just use that thermal pad that came with the retail heatsink, that should be good for overclocking, just watch your temps.

Is that the little gray square on the hsf?

Also, does the hsf have to go on 1 way? I think it looks like it could go on 2 ways.

yup that square pad is all u need to install the stock heatsink just stick the heatsink on the processor and clamp it down thats it
