Help HD hangs after install!>>!>>?

After I installed my Maxtor HD it hangs the system load after the PCI device listing happens. It was detected in BIOS and in MAXBlast software properly. It told me to reboot without floppy in and I get no luck... nothing loads.. the HD led is on. Ummm I have no idea what is causing this.. please help
 
We need to get back to basics.

Double check connections, something may have a bad connection, power connection solid ___OK, data cable secure with red line toward power ___OK
Double check the master/slave jumpers, they are correct for the location? ___yes ___no
Go into the BIOS at startup and do an auto detect again ___OK
Can you boot with a startup floppy? ___yes ___no
Boot up OK, type the drive letter of the new drive, example: "D:" without the quotes.
What happens?
