Help! Having problems with new computer build

Hey there, I'm building a computer for a friend and I'm having some problems getting the OS installed. I'm using an Asus P5B motherboard, Seagate 250Gb HDD 3.0Gb/s SATA, and a Lite-on Dvd/cd rom cdr/rw SATA drive. The computer will POST fine, but when I put in the windows xp disc the screen just goes blank after flickering a few times. I've made sure to select the proper boot order in the BIOS and also have tried an IDE cdrom drive in the machine to get it to load windows, but still no luck. Any help or suggestions regarding this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Try another windows cd, or possibly some other bootable cd. If you can boot from another cd then get another windows cd to test.
