this is the cpu/mobo combo from outpost.com

i only have the following plugged into the mobo:
1 stick pc3200 512meg ram
radeon 9600 agp video card
(no ide/floppy/usb/etc devices are plugged in)

the mobo itself is outside of the case on an antistatic bag. and the case has a generic (Powermagic?) 500w powersupply. it worked fine w/my k7vta3/sempron2400 system. (the k7vta3 died.)

with the nforce3-A/sempron 3100 combo, I push the power button and nothing appears on the screen. when i push the power button again to turn it off, it wont turn off. i have to pull the plug.

instead of the agp card, i tried a working pci video card. i hear 1 beep, then the mobo shuts down (cpu fan stops spinning almost immediately).

suggestions PLEASE

THX!

what nforce 3 motherboard do you have? is the atx 12v 4pin plug in? also maybe it needs a bios update to recongize that cpu.

still need to know which motherboard it is? also try resetting the cmos and see if that works? To update your bios since it not posting with that cpu, most likely you are going to have to find one of the orignal skt754 or skt 939 cpu's. Or most likely you may have a dead motherboard.
