Help! Have you seen my Floppy?

My 3 1/2 floppy (A🙂 is missing from my Dell Inspirion 4000 laptop running XP Pro. Do know when or how, but the floppy is gone. It'll show up if I unplug it and plug it in again but once I press F5 to refresh it's gone once again. I have tried to uninstall the Floppy Disk Controller under Device Manager and let Windows reinstall the Floppy driver but to no avail although Windows does see it and reinstalled the floppy driver. Booting to Dos using Win98 boot disk worked therefore the hardware seems fine. Any suggestion beside reformat and do a new XP install?

Thanks.

This seems like it would be more related to your media bay managing software. Can you find updates for that? Go to Dell's site and go to customer service and put in your service tag ID. You can get a list of all the Dell recommended software updates for your system. Check there and see if there's something that will help with your problem....
