HELP guys - they spilled beer on my Canon S230 Digicam

The classic line of when you take a picture with a digital camera "OHH LET ME SEE IT NOW" and boom, beer spilled...

a little got on the LCD but now the slider switch actually "slides" now instead of clicking into place...

i don't think it has any major damage, but what can i do in the meantime? not use it for a while? store it somewhere? hair dryer? any tips, ideas, suggestions would be appreciated

Take the battery out immediately!!! That's the number one rule if you spill any kind of liquid on powered electronics. (Electricity + liquid = electrolysis reactions which can destroy circuit boards and components.) Plain water can then be allowed to dry. Anything else needs to be cleaned out (in general, the sooner the better), and to do that properly, that usually involves at least partial disassembly.

Plain water leaves stuff. Rinse it with DI water if you can get your hands on some.

i took out the battery and CF card...i think i'll leave him out to dry tonight and not bring em to the bar

To rinse off the gunk from the beer.

Of course you'll have to dry everything afterwards.

I would take it apart and clean it with 99% rubbing alcohol. People have this happen to laptops all the time and this works great.

store it in a warm dry place for a couple weeks.

Use pure alcohol, it does good job and take less time to dry up. Check to make sure it won't react with the plastic first.
