Halo, Rallisport Challenge, Max Payne, NFL Fever (the list goes on).... ummmm, those games kick some serious ass and all but one are ONLY on the Xbox. The PS2 is better for RPGs (as of now) but I'd rather get kicked in the sack repeatedly than play an RPG. Xbox has plenty of good games NOW. GTA3 is coming for the XBOX and so is Metal Gear Solid, though that doesn't qualify for now.

halo... nuff said

LOL, I must say Halo to me was the greatest dissapointment I have ever seen in a FPS. The graphics suck (better then most consoles, but nothing compared to PC FPS games which is what it is compared to all the time) Even the actual gameplay is kinda lame. mulitplayer is alot of fun, so it gets points there, but overall it was WAAAY overhyped.

My preference for gaming is the PC, but if you are going for a console I would get the Gamecube. Nintendo may have the reputation for being a "kiddie" system, but nintendo is always praised for having the best gameplay. It's games are just plain fun. No they are not the highest end in the graphics department but if you want that then go with PC gaming anyway. Games for nintendo system, especially those done by nintendo itself, have always had awesome stories and have just been plain fun. Xbox has the blood games and PS2 has to HUUUUUUUUGE library, but cube has the quality. GT3 is an awesome game and I must say, GTA3 is soooo cool, but they do not have stories (not that GT3 is supposed to have a story :) ) Just look at the entire game category of platformers, nintendo has always dominated in this one and I think always will. As those are my favorite types of games to play ON CONSOLE, cube is my choice.

I still love my PC though. :)

Do what everyone said and check recent/ upcoming titles and make your choice. Both systems you mention are great but if the titles dont interest you then whats the point. I would also check out PS2 because some of the games I tried are cool (GTA3 especially, Gran Turismo 3, MGS). I got the Cube and havent regretted it yet although I'm getting impatient for Rare to release Perfect Dark for it.

I got a Cube the day it came out, and I never play it anymore. There just aren't that many games out yet. I feel kind of let down. I know some great games are coming for it, but it's been a *long* time since anything decent came out. If yopu can wait a while I'd still hang in there for the Cube, but if you want something now I'd have to say get the PS2.

I've got a Cube and Im satisfied with it thus far. But the big names arn't out yet ( Mario, Zelda, Metroid ) so that will pick things up when they arrive. And whoever said Square was only making games for GBA was wrong, Square wants FFXI to be mutliplatform. Not to mention the ability to link GBA - GC, which could have some seriously cool implications for a FF game.

out of those 2 GC

have you seen the metriod prime clips?

that alone will probably justify the purchase of a cube for me

but i personally like the ps2 best right now (i have one)

and will prolly pick up a cube when metroid prime comes out

PS2.

GC and Xbox games dont compare right now to PS2 games. however between those choices, i'd prolly get GC myself. with the $100 i save by not getting a xbox, i could get more games and accessories.

Wait until E3 before making any decision. Nintendo is going to give you about a million reasons why you will want a Gamecube this fall. Now of course the same could most likely be said about the Xbox, which is why you should wait until E3.

Its just I think the Gamecube is going to have a bigger show by far.

Oh, but obviously, the Playstation 2 is the way to go if you don't already have it.

whoever said Square was only making games for GBA was wrong

Two Square games I know of are coming to GCN. FF XI and some yet-to-be-announced GCN-GBA linkable RPG.

Square doesn't matter much to me, since everything since FF VII has been pretty stale. Hopefully FF XI will be something creative.
