Those experts out there I have a problem whenever I boot up my system
sometimes it got hung with green lines on the top of the monitor. I have
to reset it hoping the next reboot will boot into windows I wonder if it is
the graphics cards.

I have a Abit KT Raid 512Mb Ram
AMD 1000Mhz CPU
Creative Geforce 2 Graphics card
Creative Vibra 128 Sound card
Creative 52X CD ROM
Creative CD-RW
2 Hard Drives of IBM 45 GB connected to Raid
and I don't overclock any hardware components

Anyone knows why ? Could it be the drivers ?

Happens often when the CPU or RAM/Videocard is overclocked, and sometimes when there is a hardware conflict. Downclock back to default speed if overclocking, flash BIOS and videocard's BIOS, install a new video driver.

well if nothing is overclocked then I don't think that would be what's causing it. As above though, try the latest drivers and check to make sure there are no conflicts in device manager. Also try reseating the cards and cables.

The only other thing to try would be to reinstall Windows.

Yeah I had the same problem, but with a Readon DDR card. I changed monitors from a CRT to LCD and they still appeared, so it wasn't that. I then changed over from Win98SE to W2K and nothing has happened yet, so I'm not too sure either, but for now I'm thinkin' the OS w/ my configuration.

Q. Windows locks up before it finishes loading, and a thin green line may appear across the top of the screen. How can I fix it?

This may be caused by the Backup utility supplied with Windows 9x attempting to detect new tape devices on boot. You can fix it by deleting the files drvwppqt.vxd and drvwq117.vxd in the Windows\System\Iosubsys directory. If this helps, then search for the string 'TAPEDETECT' in your registry and delete any entries that exist. If you find this causes your tape drive to stop working, you'll have to reinstall Microsoft Backup. You can also simply uninstall Microsoft Backup if you don't use it.
