Here's the problem I'm running into. I just got 2 Athlon XP1800+ and a TigerMP. Funny thing is that one of the CPUs will only work in CPU0 and not in CPU1. The other CPU with work in either.
To test this, what I did was try each CPU one at a time. I tried CPU A by itself in cpu0, booted up no problem. Took that same CPU A tried it by itself in CPU1 and no boot.
Took CPU B by itself and tried it in CPU0, booted up. Tried CPU B again by itself in CPU1 and booted up.
This kind of leads me to believe there is something wrong with CPU A. If I try both CPUs, the system will boot and detect 2 CPUs but I have to use CPU A in CPU0 and CPU B in CPU1 or it will not boot. If I try the opposite, no boot.
I continued to install W2K anyways, just to see if it would work. But after the first reboot during installation, the system would hang at the Windows 2000 logo screen. Waited 30 minutes and same place.
So does that mean CPU A is some how defective?? Why would it only work in one of the CPU slots while the other one works in either?? Here's the CPU code for the one having problems if anyone is interested:
AX1800DMT3C
AGKGA0139UPCW
Y6952830257
The one that works in either socket has a code of:
AX1800DMT3C
AGKGA0139UPCW
Y6952830260
Anyone have any ideas? Is my conclusion correct about CPU A being flaky, bad?? Thanks..
