Man, I can't stand this noise. It's bad enough the dsl modem is making the high pitched whine.

I recently switched out my D-link Router for a Linksys one, and the noise is worse than ever before.

Is there such a big difference in noise between manufacturers?

I know that the D-link 604 I had previously emiitted almost NO noise at all, because I could stand it when it sat on top of my desk, but it was giving me problems, so I switched.

I got the Linksys BEFSR41, (the one everybody has ~$55) but the noise coming out of this one is ridiculous. I know it's not good to insulate electrical parts, but I tuck this inbetween the wall and the filing cabinets, and throw a blanket over it.

Sitting at my desk for hours will make me go crazy otherwise.

is there really anything else I can do? I'm thinking the life expectency on the router won't last long with all that heat being trapped in there.

Does everyone else just live with it?
