Help getting Laptop Online.........

I have a Dell laptop at work. Dell Computers is just across the field from me to thEaast, and just across the parking lot to the south is a hotel with WiFi access. So I am hoping that I can pick up a signal from one of those two businesses for some internet access. I have never had a laptop before and am not sure what kind of card or what I need to try and get a signal.

if it's a fairly new laptop it should have a built in WIFI ready to go, you just have to turn it on when you want to access a WIFI signal, however, those signals might be password asscessable only.
 
I believe it is a Dell Inspirion.........Where would I check or how is it enabled? I guess I will have to take a closer look when I get to work to morrow.
