Help getting into Windows

My friend's having trouble getting into Win98, the logo appears but after that an 'out of scan range' message appears and stops comp from entering Windows - what is this related to? Cheers

Just hold down Control on startup and select Safe Mode. From there Right click on a blank area of the desktop and select properties. Then click the settings tab and slide the bar to whatever resolution was previously on and restart normally.
