My configuration on my Secondary IDE Channel is:

Master: TDK 24x Burner
Slave: Sony DVD Rom

OS: Win XP Sp1
Motherboard: Iwill KK266

I noticed the other day that my DVD rom was ripping a cd pretty slow, but I didn't think anything of it. Today I tried to play a divx directly from the drive and it was really choppy. I went to device manager and looked at the settings, and my TDK 24x is set at DMA while my DVD rom was set at PIO Only. I changed its setting to DMA if available, but it is still in PIO mode.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to help me change my DVD drive from PIO to DMA mode. I already went to BIOS and everything is on Auto Detect, and if you try to change it there are Mode 1 - 4 and I have no idea what those do anyways.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

what happens is XP does a fallback to keep a failure from ocurring so it rather a total bollux it slows the transfers to PIO..what causes the failure..

but the fix is fairly simple and quick..usually the failure is when transferring data..i.e. burning on the fly and such..and you are welcome :)
