hello.

This has happened 2x now.... I am building my own pc, and I have gotten a voice generated error message saying "System failed Cpu Test".

Specs:

Asus P4P800 Deluxe
Intel P4 2.8C 800 FSB
1GB Kingston HyperX 3200
Antec Sonata 380w PSU

The first time I got the error message (I get the error message when I turn on pc - doesn't even post), I tried to troubleshoot with Asus Tech Support. Narrowed it down to CPU or MB. So I ordered both a new CPU and MB- from Newegg- , and I get the same error message. Owners manual no help; neither is Asus website. Tech support not available till monday, this board seems pretty popular and I was wondering if anybody else has run into the same issue.

Thanks.

I just installed a P4P800 in my new build on Thursday night, been "burning" it in since. I honestly have had no problems with this system yet, a minor thing with installing Windows XP and the Intel RAID driver for the motherboard (due to the fact that I have no floppy disk on my system), but otherwise no real issues.

It may sound silly but you do have the CPU mounted properly right? It'd be fairly hard to mount it improperly...but anything is possible. Other than that, are you grounded when working in your PC...because if your not that might explain why you have 2 CPU units that don't work for you.

Yes, I have taken it out of the case and powered the mobo on sitting on the cardboard box it came in. The cpu sits in the slot fine. Still trying to figure it out...

had the same issue with an AMD rig I was putting togather for a friend.... the MB was set for jumper less settings but upon closer examination found that one of the DIP switches was not quite in the right place. Re-booted and worked the first time. hope this helps
