Help getting crappy ECS mobo to recognize OCZ RAM

Right now, I have an ECS RC410L-MGF (ugh). It's supposed to support DDR2 400/533/667..I've been running two 512 sticks of OCZ DDR2 533 since I had it with no problems.

Recently, I came across a great deal on Craigslist and got this RAM for $75

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...7198&Tpk=OCZ2N800SR2GK

When I put them in my mobo, it doesn't post. At first I gave up, but then I put in one stick of the old 533 and stick of the new 800 and my computer boots fine and recognizes 1.5GB of memory...however, I'd like to be able to dump the old 533 sticks altogether and stick to the 800 sticks.

Can anyone think of any reason why I wouldn't be able to use the newer 800 sticks by themselves? I was under the assumption that the sticks would automatically underclock to 533 or 667, but it seems like they won't do so unless the old 533 sticks are there....

Whacked out SPD values that greatly exceed JEDEC paramaters (i.e. typical overclocking RAM that takes run-of-the-mill DDR2-667 DRAM and wildly overvolts it to get it stable @ DDR2-800 then charges you a premium for it). Did you check for a later BIOS?

Enter BIOS, manually set your DRAM frequency to DDR2-667, sane timings and voltage. e.g. 5-5-5-15 @ 1.9V or there-abouts

Hahahaha...thanks for the reply, I appreciate it...but unfortunately, my mobo is so crappy that I can't even change my RAM timings, frequency, or voltage. The most I can do is add 150 millivolts, which didn't really help at all. I've done some googling and it seems people even had trouble with DDR-667 and most people only had luck with DDR2-533 RAM....

Just as well I was already saving up to buy a new mobo anyways, I was getting tired of this ECS....
