Alright, this is driving me crazy!!!!

I have the Gainward GeForce 3, and 2 different Sony Trinitron TV's ( 2 year old 20", and a 7 month old 27"). As soon as I hook up the RCA cable to the tv, I get the 'Emergency Broadcast' looking screen - you know the rainbow color vertical bars, on a bouncing screen. When I switch the device selection to tv (NTSC-M), the monitor shuts off but the tv stays the same. I have Det3 23.11 drivers, WinXP (did the same thing on Me partition), and a new monster cable composite video line. I tried at 800x600 60 hz & 85hz, and at 1024x768 60 &85 hz.

The thing is, I have absolutely no problem when it's hooked up to my cheap 13" tv-vcr combo. Does tv out not work with Sony tv's? Or am I just missing something very stupid?

last bump, then I'll let it die. No one I know seems to know the answer to this. Hoping one of you Anandtechies has delt with this before.

I have noticed Sony's handle the inputs differently than other's do.
For example, if you have a svideo cable plugged in, and going to
nothing, the composite input that shares that (video1), will not work.

thanks rob! I'm posting from my tv right now. Just had to unscrew the rg6 coming from my cable box. Will be a pain in the but when I want to use it, but $20 for a 20ft cable is better than $150 for another DVD player for the bedroom!

You should try the X10 DVD Anywhere for around $60. (go to x10 website).
It includes wireless 2GHz transmitter and receiver, plus an awesome universal remote.
You will be able to use your PC to play DVD's, MP3's etc, anywhere in your home or yard,
and you can control it all with the remote, from anywhere. After messing with wires, this
is the only way to go. Excellent quality, and now that I know how good it is, I would have
spent $150 on it if I had too. Luckily it's only about $60 complete. (sign up for email coupon).
Even when not using the PC, I still use the remote as my primary unit, as it replaces much
more expensive units I have, and controls many more devices.
