I have a CL AnnihilatorPro DDR installed with a Diamond Voodoo2 in an otherwise stock Gateway G6 266. I also have 98 megs of RAM. I tried to play UT in D3D and it not only took a long time to Precache, it is also so slow and choppy that it's unplayable. It's beautiful in 3dfx mode however. The game read me said to get the latest drivers for the GeForce, which I did. I tried the nVidia Detonator3 drivers and also the CL drivers. Both installs resulted in a desktop viewable in 640X480 ONLY!!! If I set the resolution any higher my desktop became VERY DARK, with a bar down the center, graphics were backwards on some of the screen, mouse worked in reverse, icons were appearing over other icons. To make matters worse the whole mess was SMEARED as well. I re-installed drivers from the original CL cd and now things seem normal...Except the toolbar next to the START button now has a black background...looks cool, but that's not the way it's supposed to look.... Somebody help please.

Hmmmm, I've never heard of anyone trying to run a GeForce card and a Voodoo 2 in the same system. This could be the problem. I'd completly uninstall the Voodoo 2 and all its drivers, then uninstall and then reinstall the Nvidia 3.61 reference drivers for the GeForce card.

I'm not familiar with the Gateway 266 (what processor is does it use), but I believe increasing the RAM to 128 MB would help out also.

Also, have you installed the latest patch for UT (432). I also have a CL Annihilator Pro and UT ran like crap until I installed the 428 patch.

Gateway has a PII 266 440bx chipset....I have the new UT patch 432. But why does it run better with the 3dfx setting as opposed to the D3D setting that the GeForce would use? Thx for the help BTW

There are no reason to use the Diamond and Geforce in the same setup. Chuck the voodoo2 down the drain and focus on getting the geforce to give you that killer framerates you deserve!

When Unreal came out a few years back it was designed with glide (3dfx) in mind. Even to day in UT 3dfx cards still manage to cram that extra fps out of ut. The epic boys are working hard to fix that so try and download the latest direct3d driver file from epic.
